2022 Las Lamas, Descendientes de J. Palacios, Bierzo, Spain

Description

Las Lamas is always a touch rounder and riper than its sibling, Moncerbal, which is incredible as the vineyards are so close. The 2022 is no exception, with a generous, floral, musky fragrance emanating from the glass yet still with a slate twist despite the top note of rose petals. The palate is full of ripe but rounded sweet red fruit but is still mineral behind with a lovely grip and focus. This has a gorgeous presence and a really long length with a mouthcoating yet finely balanced finish, ending with a granitic lift reminiscent of the Northern Rhône.
